So as everyone knows, Sandy hit New England hard. The storm was way worse than I thought it would be and I’m still without power. Luckily everyone I know is safe. They’re still estimating that power in my area may not return for another week or so. If that’s the case then new comic strips may not be able to be posted next week. I’ll keep everyone updated.
I know the most important thing on everyone’s mind about the upcoming hurricane is whether or not it will affect Suburban Fairy Tales updates. I mean, you can survive a few days without food and water, but I know people can’t survive without their Monday, Wednesday, and Friday updates of Suburban Fairy Tales. Well put your worries to rest, because Suburban Fairy Tales is going to update as regularly scheduled. I’ve already got this week’s strips uploaded onto the queue, and the site will post them automatically on the scheduled days — even if we lose power. Of course, if we lose power no one will be able to read them anyway. Well, at least our friends on the west coast won’t have any problems.
As I type this, I’m finally sitting down for the first time since getting back from New York Comic Con 2012 a few hours ago. I’m completely and totally exhausted. I spent four days working the booth, drawing sketches, and meeting fans… and I loved every minute of it! The days were long, but they flew by. I have some picture to post, but I’ll post those at a later date.
One word to sum up NY Comic Con 2012 — AMAZING! Suburban Fairy Tales sold THREE TIMES (3X) as many books as last year and made a ton of new fans! I was giving away free sketches with every book. I can draw a sketch in about a minute or two, but it got to the point where I could barely keep up with the demand. There were times when I ran out of sketches and a few fans had to wait while I drew some new ones.
I’d like to thank all my friends (and my wife) who assisted me at the booth during the four days at NY Comic Con. A very special thanks to Jen, Brendan, Debra, Paul, Danny, Abby, LeeAnne, Steve, Pete, and Sara. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without your help.
Another reminder that I’ll be at NY Comic Con this Thursday through Sunday, October 11-14 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. I’ll be signing books and giving away sketches at the Suburban Fairy Tales Booth, booth #2137. I’m looking forward to meeting some fans and making some new ones! Hope to see you there.
I know September just began, but after September comes October and October means New York Comic Con.
Yes, I’ll be having a booth again this year. I’ll be selling some books, signing books, and giving away sketches. If you happen to be attending NY Comic Con 2012, the Suburban Fairy Tales booth is #2137. According to the floor map, I’m in an awesome location. Right across from the Capcom booth.
Last year was a success, but I’m hoping this year will be even better!
