Archie 80th Anniversary Jumbo Comics Digest #5

2021 is the year that Archie Comics celebrated their 80th anniversary and I’m so very happy to be a part of it!

“Pep to the Future,” which is the lead story in Archie 80th Anniversary Jumbo Comics #5, is probably one of the best stories I’ve ever had the pleasure to write. Dealing with time travel and an unraveling universe, Archie and Jughead go back and time and meet themselves from their very first appearance in Pep Comics #22, which came out in 1941! Here’s the official write-up:

BRAND NEW STORY: “Pep to the Future” Archie and Jughead are at the Riverdale Library when Archie finds an ancient text in a hidden compartment titled “Pep Comics no. 22.” Archie opens the book… and they’re both transported immediately back to 1941! Archie sees the iconic scene from Archie’s first appearance as Archibald “Chick” Andrews trying to impress Betty while standing on a bicycle. Unfortunately, Archie accidentally knocks Chick off the bicycle causing a rift in space and time. Riverdale characters and places from 2021 start to spill into 1941, and Jughead fears it could cause the end of the known universe! Can he and Archie restore the space time continuum and set things right? Find out in this fun lead story that concludes our 80th anniversary digest celebration!

Script: Francis Bonnet
Art: Pat and Tim Kennedy, Jim Amash, Glenn Whitmore, Jack Morelli
Cover: Vincent Lovallo, Bill Golliher, Rosario “Tito” Peña
On Sale Date: 11/10
192-page, full color comic
$7.99 U.S.

The book is available now at your local comic book store, book store, or get the digital version on ComiXology!

I wrote another Halloween story titled “Cursetume Party,” which is out now in Betty and Veronica Jumbo Comics #297.  You may be interested to know that Bill Golliher continues the story in World of Archie #113, and Dan Parent concludes it in World of Betty and Veronica #9. Each story stands alone, but getting all three issues is recommended!

Here’s the official summary:

Veronica admires a spooky necklace being worn by an old woman at the shop who gifts it to them. Unfortunately, her generous gesture leads to a series of unfortunate events for the BFFs!

Betty and Veronica Friends Forever – Halloween Spooktacular #1

Posted In: News Blog

I know it’s still September, but now is the perfect time to get a jump-start on Halloween with a new story I wrote in Betty and Veronica Friends Forever: Halloween Spooktacular #1. This is the first time that I used Sabrina the Teenage Witch in a story, and definitely won’t be the last (I’m still sad about the Netflix show ending). I also love the cover drawn by Dan Parent! If you want to grab a copy check your local comic book shop, newsstand, or get the digital issue on ComiXology. Here’s the official synopsis:

Betty & Veronica are here with some spooky stories to get you into the Halloween spirit, including a BRAND-NEW story! In “Best Witches,” while out shopping for their Halloween costumes, Betty and Veronica find an old witch’s hat at a thrift store. Thinking it would be perfect for her costume, Veronica buys it and puts it on. When she wishes that Archie was there and then he magically appears, they realize the hat is magic! What will Betty and Veronica do next with this newfound power?

Script: Francis Bonnet
Art: Dan Parent, Bob Smith, Glenn Whitmore, Jack Morelli
Cover: Dan Parent
On Sale Date: 9/8
32-page, full color comic
$2.99 U.S.
