I wrote a new story for Archie Jumbo Comics #310, which released a few weeks ago, but is available now. This one was a blast to write and was inspired by one of my favorite movies of all time — Cast Away. Check your local bookstore or comic book store for a physical copy, or pick up a digital copy from ComiXology or the Archie Comics app!

Here’s the official write up:

NEW CLASSIC-STYLE STORY: “Lost at Sea!” Archie and Jughead decide to go on a fishing trip at sea for a guys’ getaway. Unfortunately, when both of them fall asleep on the boat, they wake up far from home—and far from shore!
Script: Francis Bonnet
Art: Jeff Shultz, Bob Smith, Rosario Peña, Jack Morelli
Cover: Bill Golliher
On Sale Date: 6/3
192-page, full color comic
$7.99 U.S.

I’ve got another video of me drawing a Suburban Fairy Tales comic strip from start to finish! This time it’s the comic strip that was published June 12, 2020, which features Bo-Peep’s lost sheep!  This one clocks in at about 5 and a half minutes, although the time it took for me to draw the strip was much longer.  Enjoy!

Video: Drawing a Comic Strip from Start to Finish

Yesterday I started a YouTube channel where I plan to occasionally upload Suburban Fairy Tales-related content.  My first video has me drawing the June 10, 2020 comic strip from start to finish. I use Clip Studio to do the actual pencils and inks (I love their G Pen), and then I bring it into Photoshop for the lettering and coloring. The video speeds through the process so you can watch the whole thing in about 6 minutes.  Thank you to Daniel Orama for my Suburban Fairy Tales theme song!

The pandemic has pushed back the release dates of a lot of comics, but finally some books that were scheduled to come out are making their way to comic book stores and newsstands.  I’ve got a new story featured in World of Archie Jumbo Comics #99, which is now starting to show up on store shelves. It’s understandable if you don’t want to venture out to buy a physical copy, but luckily the book is available to order digitally from ComiXology or from the Archie Comics app.

Here’s the official write-up:

Script: Francis Bonnet, Ian Flynn
Art: Bill Galvan, Jeff Shultz, Jim Amash, Bob Smith, Glenn Whitmore, Jack Morelli
Cover: Jeff Shultz
On Sale Date: 5/13
192-page, full color comic
$7.99 U.S.

TWO NEW CLASSIC-STYLE STORIES: First, in “Almost Famous,” Archie gets the idea to try to become a famous YouTube star, tasking Jughead with filming his adventures around town and commenting on things he likes or doesn’t like about Riverdale’s dining, theaters, and shops. Unfortunately, when things start going wrong, Jughead might not be the only one filming! Then, in “Little Insights,” Detective Fu Chang helps Archie and Jughead during a school trip to China!
